Overview

Founded in 1961, LIFT offers adult basic literacy,GED preparation and English as a Second Language programs with the goal of workforce empowerment. We serve approximately 3,500 adults each year through the dedication of more than 350 trained volunteer instructors. LIFT uses proven curricula and technology to successfully teach persons with learning differences how to read. Approximately 80% of adult learners who complete one term at LIFT improve by at least one reading proficiency level. LIFT's unique classroom approach provides learners with peer support and a sense of community that helps them develop a belief in their ability to succeed.
